From the Pastor

Now Do They See?

Today my wife read that Rick Warren was on Larry King Live this week, and the Osteens were on the next night.

Here are two pastors to whom America looks for answers.

Among other things, I’m told that Warren apologized for offending the homosexual community through his one-time support for Proposition 8 in California. He said he had called his gay friends and apologized.  He said he is not anti-gay marriage.

I’m told that Osteen said that Obama is doing a great job as President.

I’m sorry folks.  But I don’t think you even have to be very consecrated before the Lord to see that these two men are not true preachers of the Gospel.  To be blunt, they are a joke.

Any man who purports to be a man of God who can’t take a stand against the sin of homosexuality is no man of God in my book.  Now, I didn’t say that he is to condemn the homosexual and leave him no hope.  On the contrary, the homosexual is to be told that there is forgiveness and deliverance from his sin and bondage exclusively through Christ.  But to preach that, you have to first acknowledge that homosexuality is wrong.

Any man who purports to be a man of God who sees what Obama has done in less than 100 days in office to promote the killing of the unborn is likewise no man of God in my book.  I don’t care if Obama already had the economy booming and everything else coming up roses, this one reason is enough to know that he is far from “doing a great job”.  He’s doing a great job for Satan. Period.

But this article is not about homosexuality or Obama.  Rather, here is the question I want to ask:

Finally, do any of the millions who have followed Warren and Osteen and their like, do they finally see a problem here?  I suppose most of the so-called Church today is so blinded and deceived that they could not see the errors, the New Age, and the Catholicism in “The Purpose Driven Life” (by the way, Warren also says he is not a Protestant…you figure that one out).  I suppose most “Christians” were too blind and deceived to know that Osteen’s “messages” were no more than pop-psychology, feel-good, pat-me-on-the-back motivational speeches with a few Scriptures thrown in to make it nice and religious.

But now, does anybody see??  Probably not, but they should.

You may ask, why not spend more time just telling people about Jesus?  Oh, we do.  But think of it this way.  If you were thirsty and I was trying to tell you about fresh, pure water, of which you were at best only vaguely familiar, and you were about to go out and buy you some, wouldn’t I also need to tell you what to avoid?  In other words, if all the bottles of water were labeled the same as the bottles of poison, and they all contained clear liquid that looked, tasted, and smelled the same, but if there was some way for you to make sure you avoided the poison, shouldn’t I also tell you that?

I will say again (as I have said often to our congregation), pray that God will raise up true preachers of the Gospel.  That’s the only answer for America.  Jesus told us to do the same, when He said to pray that the Lord of the harvest would send laborers.

Embrace the Truth (Christ) and avoid error at all costs.

God bless you.
